The horse stable and clubhouse, designed by RM+H Architects, were conceived as one integrated structure responding to the land’s topography and the practical needs of both animals and people. The lower level houses the stables, built in locally quarried stone for durability, thermal comfort, and ease of maintenance. The material keeps the interiors naturally cool while lending the structure a sense of permanence and weight. The planning ensures adequate ventilation, with open bays and shaded passages that allow air to circulate freely and keep the space comfortable for the horses.

Above the stables sits the clubhouse, a simple yet inviting space that overlooks the paddocks and the surrounding landscape. The design uses large openings and shaded verandahs to frame views while reducing heat gain. From the terrace, the eye travels across the fields and towards the lake, creating a strong connection between the built space and the activity on the ground below. The layout encourages interaction without disturbing the calm and rhythm of the stable environment.

The entire structure has been designed with a focus on material honesty and climatic response. Stone, timber, and concrete are used in their natural form, creating a visual balance between solidity and lightness. Drainage and runoff have been carefully managed to keep the stable dry and functional through the monsoon, while the clubhouse above becomes a place of rest, observation, and quiet social gatherings.

The horse stable and clubhouse represent RM+H Architects’ approach to building with purpose and context. Every design choice is grounded in climate, function, and experience, creating an architecture that works seamlessly for both people and animals while remaining deeply connected to the land it inhabits.
